Description
Circle City. 2000
This cast-iron sculpture was initially inspired by the poem “My Paper Bridge” by Kadya Molodowsky. The poem refers to a “Jewish legend, when the Messiah comes, the Jews will cross into Paradise over a miraculously strengthened bridge of paper” (Hellerstein, 1999). Here the city of god has no bridge. The surrounding area looks remarkably like the exalted city. If there was a paper bridge, could anything change?
